• Minecraft is the most succesfull game of all time.
• It was created by Markus Persson and the full version was released in november 2011.
• It has sold 180 million copies.
• Digitally convergent media- It can be played on lots of different platforms xbox, PC, phone. Cross media content helps maximize profit.
• The gaming market is now worth 100 billion dollars. The UK share is 4 billion.
• Video games are growing much faster than other media industries.
• Minecraft is a sandbox game created and developed by Mojang studios.
• There are two game modes creative and survival as well as the recent additions of Adventure, Spectator and Multi-player modes.
• Markuss Persson started creating the game in may 2009.
• The game originally relied on word of mouth to grow. It featured on websites such as penny arcade web comic.
• By January 2011 the beta version of the game had passed one million purchases. 
• The full game released in November 2011 with 16 million users.
• The game then quickly released on a variety of consoles including xbox in 2012. 
• In 2014 Microsoft bought minecraft for 2.5billion.
• Minecraft story mode follows a more regular convention fro a game.
• People played privated versions of minecraft for free, other users would also create hacks.
• Minecraft was cheap to develop and only needed a few people.
• Minecraft encourages people to use the game to design houses and they also released an educational version of the game.
• Much of minecrafts success was due to word of mouth and people sharing their footage on youtube .
• There is now minecraft lego and merchandise.
• Also Skyrim, Lady Gaga, South Park and the Simpsons have all referenced Minecraft.
• There is also a planned Minecraft movie.
• Minecraft was originally rated a PEGI 7, however the minecraft story mode was rated a PEGI 12 due to narratives and dialouge being introduced.
• There are several clones of minecraft but none of them were as popular.
• The PC version of the game was noted for its modding.
• There is minecon which shows the popularity.
• You can now cross play on minecraft between different consoles.
• The Playstation Vita copy sold more than the PS3 and PS4.
• The continued development of fan made media, sites and blogs means there is an active community of gamers.

• Minecraft has a universal appeal. This is becuase the audience can control and shape their own the world.
• Social media has allowed minecrafts audience to have a active involvelmoment throghout the production of the game.
